‘It’s doubtful rally legend Henri Toivonen was ever scared of much on a special stage such was the size of his natural talent behind the wheel. However, not being able to shake off a red Talbot Avenger Estate 1.6 GL, no matter how hard he tried, must have given him the creeps a few times. But to be fair to the late Finn, this was no ordinary red Talbot Avenger Estate 1.6 GL. Used as a support vehicle for his and other Talbot Sunbeam Lotus cars on the world rally championship in the early Eighties, beneath its ordinary suburban body was a works-prepared rally car.’
