Jaguar World, Jaguar XF SV8 vs Audi S6, February 2009
‘Suddenly, the normally docile XF is more difficult to rein in – the revs have been built up to the point that it sounds like the engine is going to explode and it only takes a tiny squeeze of the accelerator to shoot the car forward with a ferocity that pushes all the organs at the front of your body to the back. The acceleration is blistering, savage even. Meanwhile, the cabin is filled with a deep, fearsome growl that only a V8 can produce before the high-pitched whine of the supercharger takes over, sounding more like a supersonic jet and feeling like one too. I haven't heard or seen this kind of firepower since America's 2003 'shock and awe' bombardment of Iraq.’
