‘Suddenly he attacks the accelerator and we are launched space shuttle style, the acceleration so fast my senses don’t have time to take it in, although my stomach is left behind somewhere and my helmeted head is clanging off the bulkhead. Immediately the nose lifts up and before I know it I’m lying in the car at a 45-degree angle, looking skyward.
